Turbochargers

Usage:

Remove Turbochargers

preparatory steps:

a) remove turbocharger heat shield (marine engines only)

b) remove air cleaner housings

1. Remove air cleaner support bracket (6). Remove turbocharger lubrication line (4).

2. Remove oil drain line (5).

3. Remove turbocharger-to-camshaft housing oil line (2).

4. Remove the aftercooler air equalizer tube. Loosen air bolts for outlet elbow to aftercooler housing clamps (1). Remove bolt securing outlet elbow to turbocharger.

5. Remove the turbocharger retaining bolts (3) and nuts. Move the turbocharger away from the exhaust pipe, and remove the turbocharger-weight 40 lbs. (18 kg).

Install Turbochargers

1. Position the turbocharger on air outlet elbow and rotate the turbocharger into place.

2. Coat the threads of the turbocharger retaining bolts with 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound. Install the retaining bolts and nuts. Tighten the nuts to 40 ± 4 lb. ft. (5,5 ± 0,55 mkg).

3. Install the aftercooler air equalizer tube. Install the air outlet elbow-to-turbocharger retaining bolt and washers. Tighten the air outlet elbow-to-aftercooler housing retaining clamps.

4. Install the turbocharger oil drain line. Install the air cleaner support bracket.

5. Install the turbocharger lubrication line.

6. Install the turbocharger-to-camshaft housing oil line.

concluding steps:

a) install air cleaner housings

b) install turbocharger heat shield (Marine engines only)
