Vibration Damper & Hub

Usage:

Remove Vibration Damper And Hub

1. Remove fan drive pulley assembly mounting bolts and remove pulley assembly (1).

2. Remove two pulley assembly mounting bolts. Install two 1/2"-13NC x 10" guide bolts. Remove the remaining mounting bolts. Remove the pulley (3).

3. Slide the vibration damper (2) forward enough to install lifting bracket (A). Attach hoist and remove vibration damper-weight 175 lbs. (79 kg).

NOTE: Later machines have two dampers with a spacer between them. Each damper weighes 69 lbs. (31.30 kg).

4. Remove the hub retaining bolts and retainer.

5. Reinstall the retainer and bolts with suitable spacers (4) between end of crankshaft and the retainer.

6. Install tool setup (B) as follows:

a. Position the adapter plate (6) on hub, and install the eight mounting bolts.

b. Install the remainder of tool setup (B).

7. Using tool setup (B), separate the hub (5) from the crankshaft. Remove the tool setup.

8. Remove the hub retainer, retaining bolts, and hub.

Install Vibration Damper And Hub

1. Position the hub on crankshaft, and install the retainer and three retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts (1) that hold the hub to the crankshaft to 150 ± 20 lb.ft. (20.7 ± 2.8 mkg). Tap with a hammer, and retighten to 150 ± 20 lb.ft. (20.7 ± 2.8 mkg).

2. Install two 1/2"-13NC x 10" guide bolts on hub. Using lifting bracket (A), attach hoist to vibration damper and position damper on the two guide bolts. Slide the damper back on the hub. Install the pulley. Install the pulley mounting bolts. Tighten bolts (2) to 75 ± 10 lb. ft. (10,4 ± 1,4 mkg).

NOTE: Later machines with two dampers (3 and 4) have a spacer (5) between the dampers. Install the damper (3), spacer (5) and damper (4). Install a lockwasher and a flat washer (6) on each bolt (7). Tighten bolts (7) to 75 ± 10 lb.ft. (10.5 ± 1.4 mkg).

3. Position the fan drive pulley assembly on engine and install the mounting bolts.
