Outside diameter ... 88.15 ± .013 mm (3.4705 ± 0.0005 inch)

Note: Lubricate the threads of the locknut with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(2) Torque for the locknut ... 3000 ± 300 N·m (2212 ± 220 lb ft)

Note: Lubricate the threads of the head with clean grease before assembly.

(3) Torque for the head ... 600 ± 130 N·m (440 ± 95 lb ft)

(4) Lubricate the sealing lip of the buffer seal assembly lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(5) Lubricate the sealing lip of the U-cup seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(6) Lubricate the sealing lip of the wiper seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(7) Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound to the wiper seal groove before assembly.

(A) Outside diameter of the piston over two lands ... 120.15 ± 0.03 mm (4.730 ± 0.001 inch)

(B) Bore of the cylinder assembly ... 120.65 ± 0.08 mm (4.750 ± 0.003 inch)

(C) Diameter of the rod assembly ... 60.275 ± 0.038 mm (2.3730 ± 0.0015 inch)

(D) Bore of the head over four lands ... 60.61 ± 0.03 mm (2.386 ± 0.001 inch)

Note: After assembly, the sleeve bearing must not extend beyond either side face of the rod assembly.

(8) 250-1561 Sleeve Bearing

Inside diameter ... 65.322 ± .020 mm (2.5717 ± 0.0008 inch)

Outside diameter ... 78.125 ± .013 mm (3.0758 ± 0.0005 inch)

(2) Apply 1U-8846 Gasket Sealant to the bottom of the cover before assembly.

(3) Apply 1U-8846 Gasket Sealant to the bottom of the connector plate before assembly.

Note: Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the retainer before assembly.

(4) Torque for the retainer ... 20 ± 4 N·m (15 ± 3 lb ft)

Note: Apply 4C-9506 Retaining Compound to the threads of the piston before assembly.

(5) Torque for the piston ... 600 ± 60 N·m (440 ± 44 lb ft)

Note: Lubricate the threads of the head with clean grease before assembly.

(6) Torque for the head ... 600 ± 130 N·m (440 ± 95 lb ft)

(7) Lubricate the sealing lip of the buffer seal assembly lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(8) Lubricate the sealing lip of the U-cup seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(9) Lubricate the sealing lip of the wiper seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(10) Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound to the wiper seal groove before assembly.

Note: Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the setscrew before assembly.

(11) Torque for the setscrew ... 25 ± 3 N·m (18 ± 2 lb ft)

(A) Bore of the cylinder assembly ... 133.35 ± 0.08 mm (5.250 ± 0.003 inch)

(B) Diameter of the rod assembly ... 76.150 ± 0.038 mm (2.9980 ± 0.0015 inch)

(C) Bore of the head over four lands ... 76.48 ± 0.03 mm (3.011 ± 0.001 inch)

Note: After assembly, the sleeve bearings must not extend beyond either side face of the rod assembly.

(12) 250-1561 Bearing

Removal Procedure

1. Place the boom on Tooling (A) . Lower the stick to the ground.

2. Release the pressure in the hydraulic oil system.

3. Place suitable cribbing under the stick cylinder.

4. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (2) .

5. Remove hook assembly (3) from both sides.

6. Attach a suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (5) . The weight of boom cylinder (5) is approximately 115 kg (255 lb). Remove pins (6) and (4) . Remove boom cylinder (5) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install boom cylinder (5) in the reverse order of removal.
