Accumulator | |
The accumulator contains a bladder that separates oil and dry nitrogen gas. The accumulator stores potential energy by accumulating a quantity of pressurized hydraulic oil. The oil that is stored is available to the pilot circuit when additional pressure is needed.
The accumulator is part of the boom dampening system. The accumulator is filled by pilot oil from the load control valve for the boom.

The boom dampening system (2) allows the lock valves (7) on the two boom cylinders to open at the same time when the boom is lowered. This provides greater stability for the boom. The accumulator (4) dampens any fluctuations in the supply to the lock valves.
