Description of Change:
ReferenceOperation and Maintenance Manual, "Cab - Tilt".
ReferenceDisassembly and Assembly, RENR3447, "725 and 730 Articulated Trucks Machine Systems", "Cab - Install".
ReferenceDisassembly and Assembly, RENR9564, "730 Ejector Articulated Truck Machine Systems", "Cab - Install".
ReferenceDisassembly and Assembly, RENR5140, "735, 740 and 740 EJECTOR Articulated Trucks Machine Systems", "Cab - Install".A new method of retaining the mounting pins for the cab has been introduced.
A keeper pin is used instead of the former clips. The keeper pins reduce the number of parts that are used in securing the mounting pins. The keeper pins are a better method of securing the mounting pins in comparison to the spring clips that was used on earlier machines.
Adaptable To: 103-5796 Keeper Pins replace the former 5U-0930 Spring Clip that were used on earlier machines to the machines that are listed.
The 103-5796 Keeper Pins are not adaptable to earlier machines.
The 103-5796 Keeper Pins are used to retain the mounting pins that are used to secure the cab to the front frame. Whenever the cab is installed or the cab lowered as part of Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cab - Tilt", the keeper pins must be correctly installed after the mounting pins for the cab are installed.

The ring on the 103-5796 Keeper Pin is in the CORRECT position. Note the orientation of the nose on the keeper pin. Refer to the white arrow. |
There is only one way for the ring on 103-5796 Keeper Pin (1) to be correctly folded. When the ring is correctly folded in the ring's place, the spring tension in the ring will keep the ring against the shaft of the keeper pin. Refer to Illustration 1, for an example of the ring on the keeper pin that is correctly folded in place. Also, the Illustration shows that the nose on the keeper pin is pointing toward the end of mounting pin (2) for the cab.

The ring on the 103-5796 Keeper Pin is in the INCORRECT position. Note the orientation of the nose on the keeper pin. Refer to the white arrow. |
Refer to Illustration 2, for an example of the ring on the 103-5796 Keeper Pin that is incorrectly folded in place. Also, the Illustration shows that the nose on the keeper pin is pointing away from the end of mounting pin (2) for the cab.
Illustration 3 | g01283525 |
103-5796 Keeper Pin (1) is correctly installed in order to secure mounting pin (2) in the cab mount. Note the loop on the side of the cab mount. Refer to the white arrow. |
When you install 103-5796 Keeper Pin (1) in order to secure mounting pin (2) in the cab mount, ensure that the shaft of the keeper pin goes all the way through the pin and the loop on the side of the bracket for the cab mount. Also, ensure that the keeper pin is installed correctly in order to allow the spring tension in the ring to keep the ring against the shaft of the keeper pin. Refer to Illustration 3.
