Oil Cooler

Usage:

Remove Oil Cooler


OIL COOLER
1. Inlet water line. 2. Outlet water line. 3. Retaining bolts (four). 4. Oil cooler.

1. Drain the cooling system, the capacity is approx. 25 U.S. quarts (23.7 liter).

2. Remove the oil cooler water lines (1) and (2).

3. Remove oil cooler retaining bolts (3). Remove oil cooler (4).

Install Oil Cooler

1. Clean mounting surface on cylinder block and oil cooler.

2. Install oil cooler to cylinder block. Install retaining bolts. Tighten retaining bolts to 32 ± 5 lb. ft. (4.4 ± 0.7 mkg).

3. Connect the oil cooler inlet and outlet water lines.

NOTE: Inlet and outlet water line hoses should be replaced every 12 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

4. Fill the engine cooling system to the correct level.

5. If the oil filters have been removed, install oil filters as follows. Apply engine oil (SAE 30) to filter gasket. Tighten filter until gasket contacts filter base, then tighten additional one-half to three-fourths of a turn. Tighten filters by hand only. When oil filters are replaced add 2 qts. (1.9 liter) of oil.

NOTE: If oil cooler was disassembled, install gasket to oil cooler base with the index point (5) toward front of engine and in the up position as shown. Tighten oil cooler core-to-base nuts to 17 ± 3 lb. ft. (2.4 ± 0.4 mkg).
