Oil Pump

Usage:

Remove Oil Pump

1. Remove the oil pump cover retaining bolts (1). Remove the oil pump cover (2).


OIL PUMP
1. Bolts (four). 2. Oil pump cover.

2. Remove the outer rotor (5) and the inner rotor (3). Check size of bearing (4). Size of bearing (4) is 2.804 ± .002 in. (71.22 ± 0.05 mm). If necessary remove bearing (4).


ROTORS REMOVED
3. Inner rotor. 4. Bearing. 5. Outer rotor.

Install Oil Pump

1. Clean all parts thoroughly. Oil all component parts with clean engine oil (SAE 30) before installing in front cover.

2. If bearing (4) was removed, install bearing (4) in the timing gear cover using driver (6).


INSTALLING BEARING
6. 8S2285 Driver.

3. Install the inner rotor (3) and the outer rotor (5).

4. Check oil pump rotor tip clearance. Rotor tip clearance is .004 ± .002 in. (0.10 ± 0.05 mm). Maximum permissible rotor tip clearance is .009 in. (0.21 mm).

5. Install cover (2), mounting bolts (1) and locks. Tighten bolts to 18 ± 5 lb. ft. (2.5 ± 0.7 mkg) and secure with locks.


CHECKING ROTOR TIP CLEARANCE

6. Check oil pump end clearance. End clearance is .004 ± .002 in. (0.10 ± 0.05 mm).
