ACTION REQUIRED
Group 1) Machines which have completed PSP Service Letter PS43587: Inspect the prior repair and improvement work performed for compliance with the PSP Service Letter PS43587. Of critical importance is to ensure proper weld strengthening TIG Toe Dressing has been done as per Special Instruction REHS4281. If it is determined from the inspection that the repair and improvement work is in compliance with PSP Service Letter PS43587 - no further action is required. However, if the repair and improvement work is not in compliance with the PSP Service Letter PS43587, use a qualified welder to perform Special Instruction REHS4281 "Procedure to Repair Cracks and Improve the Articulation Hitch on Certain 14M Motor Graders". Also, refer to RENR9704, "Disassembly and Assembly 14M Motor Grader Machine Systems", as required; Group 2) Machines which have NOT completed PSP Service Letter PS43587: Use a qualified welder to perform Special Instruction REHS4281 "Procedure to Repair Cracks and Improve the Articulation Hitch on Certain 14M Motor Graders". Also, refer to RENR9704, "Disassembly and Assembly 14M Motor Grader Machine Systems", as required. Note: If repair is being actioned After Failure, replace Wrapper Plates using part number 391-4455. Refer to Special Instruction REHS4281 "Procedure to Repair Cracks and Improve the Articulation Hitch on Certain 14M Motor Graders", Section: "14M Rear Frame Repair Requires Replacement of the Top Plate", steps 2-3. In addition, ensure that there are no weld discontinuities with the welding of the 190-0944 Ground/Earth Boss that welds to the right side edge of the 287-2591 Upper Hitch Plate - this weld must be mechanically dressed (sanded/blended) upon completion. Refer Image 1 for view of the articulation hitch showing improved 391-4455 Wrapper Plates and location of the of 190-0944 Ground/Earth Boss. |
