NOTICE

Note: Inspect all O-rings, seals, and gaskets for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.

Note: Use appropriate caps and plugs on all fittings to prevent contamination.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) and four bolts (2).

  2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support (4). Support (4) weighs approximately 28 kg (62 lb).

  3. Remove four bolts (3) and support (4).

    Note: Do not reuse V-band clamps.

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device to manifold assembly (8). Manifold assembly (8) weighs approximately 30 kg (66 lb).

  5. Remove two V-band clamps (5), four bolts (6), and three bolts (7).

  6. Remove manifold assembly (8) and place on suitable cribbing.

    Note: Do not reuse V-band clamps or bellows assemblies.

  7. Remove two V-band clamps (9) and two bellows assemblies (10).

  8. Remove 15 bolts (11) and five supports (12). Three supports are (12) on the opposite side.

  9. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to support (15). Support (15) weighs approximately 63 kg (140lb).

  10. Remove four bolts (13). Three bolts (13) are not shown.

  11. Remove four bolts (14), two bolts (14) are on the opposite side.

  12. Remove eight bolts (16), four bolts (16) are on the opposite side.

  13. Remove support (15).

  14. Repeat steps 4 - 13 on opposite side of engine.

  15. Remove four bolts (17) from tube assembly (22).

    Note: Do not reuse V-band clamps or bellows assemblies.

  16. Remove three V-band clamps (18) and four bolts (19).

  17. Remove tube assembly (20), bellows assembly (21), and tube assembly (22).

  18. Repeat steps 16 - 17 on the opposite side.

  19. Remove V-band clamp (25) and bellows assembly (26) .

  20. Remove four bolts (23) and tube assembly (24).

  21. Repeat steps 19 - 20 on the opposite side.

  22. Remove two V-band clamps (27) and four bolts (29).

  23. Remove exhaust manifold (30) and bellows assembly (28).

  24. Repeat steps 22 - 23 for each exhaust manifold and bellows assembly on both sides.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply Tooling (C) to the inside diameter of V-band clamps (27).

  2. Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of two V-band clamps (27).

  3. Position bellows assembly (28) and loosely tighten V-band clamps (27).

  4. Position exhaust manifold/bellows assembly (30) and install four bolts (29).

    1. Tighten four bolts (29) to a torque of 65 ± 5 N·m (48 ± 4 lb ft).

    2. Set two V-band clamps (27) at 31° to 51° from vertical as shown.

    3. Tighten two V-band clamps (27) to a torque of 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).

  5. Repeat steps 1 -4 for each exhaust manifold and bellows assembly on both sides.

    Note: Ensure that bellows assembly (26) is installed for proper flow direction as indicated by the arrow on bellows assembly (26).

    Note: Ensure that the distance between the convolutions on bellows assembly (26) is uniform.

  6. Position tube assembly (24).

  7. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of four bolts (23) and install four bolts (23).

  8. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of V-band clamp (25).

  9. Apply Tooling (D) to the inside diameter of the V-band clamp (25).

  10. Position bellows assembly (26) and V-band clamp (25).

    1. Tighten V-band clamp (25) to a torque of 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).

  11. Repeat steps 6 - 10 on the opposite side.

    Note: Ensure that bellows assembly (21) is installed for proper flow direction as indicated by the arrow on bellows assembly (21).

    Note: Ensure that the distance between the convolutions on bellows assembly (21) is uniform.

  12. Position tube assembly (22), bellows assembly (21), and tube assembly (20).

  13. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads and inside diameter of three V-band clamps (18).

  14. Apply Tooling (D) to the inside diameter of three V-band clamps (18).

  15. Install three V-band clamps (18).

    1. Tighten three V-band clamps (18) to a torque of 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).

  16. Install four bolts (19).

  17. Repeat steps 12 - 16 on the opposite side.

  18. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads and bearing surfaces of four bolts (17)

  19. Position tube assembly (22) and install four bolts (17).

  20. Repeat steps 18 - 19 on the opposite side.

  21. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to support (15). Support (15) weighs approximately 63 kg (140lb).

  22. Position support (15) and install eight bolts (16). Four bolts (16) are on the opposite side.

  23. Install four bolts (14). Two bolts (14) are on the opposite side.

  24. Install four bolts (13). Three bolts (13) are not shown.

  25. Retighten four bolts (13) and eight bolts (16).

  26. Repeat steps 21 - 25 on the opposite side of the engine.

  27. Position five supports (12) and install 15 bolts (11). Three supports (12) are on the opposite side.

  28. Retighten 15 bolts (11).

  29. Repeat steps 27 - 28 on the opposite side of the engine.

  30. Apply Tooling (C) to two V-band clamps (9).

  31. Apply Tooling (D) to the inside diameter of two V-band clamps (9).

  32. Position two bellows assemblies (10) and install two V-band clamps (9).

    1. Tighten two V-band clamps (9) to a torque of 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).

  33. Attach a suitable lifting device to manifold assembly (8). Manifold assembly (8) weighs approximately 30 kg (66 lb).

  34. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads and bearing surfaces of four bolts (6) and three bolts (7).

  35. Position manifold assembly (8) and install four bolts (6) and three bolts (7).

  36. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of two V-band clamps (5).

  37. Apply Tooling (D) to the inside diameter of two V-band clamps (5).

  38. Position two V-band clamps (5).

    1. Tighten two V-band clamps (5) to a torque of 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).

  39. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support (4). Support (4) weighs approximately 28 kg (62 lb).

  40. Position Support (4) and install four bolts (3).

  41. Install four bolts (2) and two bolts (1).
