Cat® Reman Announces Engine Option for Certain 3406C Marine Engines {1000}

Usage:

3406B 4TB
Marine Engine
3406C MARINE (S/N: 4TB1-UP)

Reman released the 20R-6163 Engine Ar for a 3406C marine engine. This engine will cover some engines with a 4TB serial number prefix. The engine will be shipped at 365 hp. The engine can be rerated to match the original engine if the horsepower is between 295 hp and 400 hp.

This engine cannot be used in any class vessels that require a marine class society certification or U.S. EPA Emissions Certification. The engine can be built with line bored cylinder blocks and undersize crankshafts, so the bearings could be under or over sized and not meet class vessel requirements.

The engine will not be a drop in replacement for most uncertified engines. The engine will require changing some of the external components in most applications to make The engine fit. Typical parts that require to be swapped over from the original engine are the flywheel housing, oil pan, oil fill, oil gage, oil filter base and lines, fuel filter base and lines, control panel, engine mounts, starter, alternator, accessory drives, pulleys, and so on.

Vessel owners should investigate if all planned vessel modifications will cause the vessel to be considered a "new vessel" according to 40 CFR 1042.901 in which case current emissions tier engines may be required. The previous statements should not be viewed as legal advice and the customer is responsible for determining compliance requirements.
