Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery. First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable. A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire. |
- Disconnect battery cables.

- Remove the belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" to remove and install the belt.

- Install alternator (6) in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten nut (8) to a torque of
4 ± 1 N·m (35 ± 9 lb in) . - Tighten nut (9) to a torque of
15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb in) . - Tighten nut (10) to a torque of
100 ± 5 N·m (74 ± 4 lb ft) . - Tighten nut (11) to a torque of
4 ± 1 N·m (35 ± 9 lb in) .
