Water Temperature Regulators - Remove and Install - SCAC

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove tube assembly (1). Remove the O-ring seals.

  3. Disconnect hose from elbow (2). Remove and discard bellows assembly (3).

  4. Loosen bolt (4). Bolt (4) will remain in water temperature regulator housing (6).

  5. Remove bolts (5) and remove water temperature regulator housing (6).

  6. Remove O-ring seal (7) and remove water temperature regulator (8). Repeat for the remaining water temperature regulators.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install water temperature regulator (8) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install new bellows (3) and tighten the clamps to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (106 ± 9 lb in).
