Exhaust Leaks May Cause Failures of the 195-2431 Detonation Sensor Groups on Certain G3500 Engines{1408, 7400}

Usage:

G3516E GAS
Engine:
G3512E (S/N: NGS1-UP)
G3516C (S/N: GSB1-UP; TJB1-UP; GZZ1-UP)
G3516E (S/N: GAS1-UP; SLY1-UP)
G3520C (S/N: GZA1-UP; GZB1-UP; GZJ1-UP; GZK1-UP; GZM1-UP; GZN1-UP; RLP1-UP; LGS1-UP)
G3520E (S/N: GZH1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Exhaust manifold leaks are causing failures of the 195-2431 Detonation Sensor Groups on the serial numbers listed above. Engines will experience detonation shutdown diagnostic codes for "voltage above normal" and "voltage below normal" due to these failures.

Solution

If your engine experiences an exhaust leak, check the 195-2431 Detonation Sensor Groups for possible exposure to excessive heat from the leaking exhaust gases.
