Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Usage:

D10R AKT

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the bottom guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guards - Remove and Install".

  2. Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install".

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.

At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.

Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.

Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is approximately 132 L (35 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7244, "Cooling System (DEAC) Coolant - Change".

Drain the hydraulic oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic oil is approximately 108 L (28.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7244, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change".

  1. Open the right engine guard.

  2. Remove bolts (1), the washers, and the spacers.

  3. Remove elbows (2).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and washers.

  5. Remove bolts (4) and washers.

  6. Remove oil cooler core assembly (5) and tube (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install tube (6) into oil cooler core assembly (5).

  2. Install washers and bolts (4).

  3. Install washers and bolts (3).

  4. Install elbows (2) with the spacers, the washers, and bolts (1).

  5. Close the right engine guard.

Refill the cooling system coolant. The capacity of the cooling system is approximately 132 L (35 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7244, "Cooling System (DEAC) Coolant - Change".

Refill the hydraulic oil. The capacity of the hydraulic oil is approximately 108 L (28.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7244, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change".

End By:

  1. Install the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install".

  2. Install the bottom guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guards - Remove and Install".
