Usage:
D11R CARRYDOZER (74Z, 4HK) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS
Problem:
Due to production constraints, the improved D11 Track-Type Tractor CrN coated track bushing has only been available within a new link assembly.
Solution:
In May, 1998, Caterpillar introduced an improved track link assembly for D11R and D11N Track-Type Tractors. (See IRM UC98-8, May 1998.) This new link assembly contains a track bushing that includes a CrN coating which is applied to the bushing end faces, with the bushing inside diameter being shielded from the coating process.
Effective November 15, 1998, the new CrN coated, shielded inside diameter track bushing will be available for Parts Service.
Initially, your Parts Department should order the 159-3588 Track Bushing (See Table 1). This bushing is the 142-7029 Bushing (Complete CrN coated including the inside diameter), which has been reworked using a diamond polishing operation to remove the CrN coating from the inside diameter. The 159-3588 Bushing may exhibit a slight scoring of the outside diameter surface at the bushing/link press fit area, due to the overall rework process. This does not effect the bushing performance.
