Procedure To Prevent Rocks Throwing The Fan Belt Caterpillar

Procedure To Prevent Rocks Throwing The Fan Belt

Usage:

TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSD9R (7TL, 8BL) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS

Problem:

Fan belts can be thrown from pulleys when rocks get into the bottom guard or engine compartment and wedge themselves between the pulley and the belt.

Solution:

Three solutions must be used in order to prevent rocks from entering the engine compartment.

1. Install Engine Enclosure Group 128-8590.
2. Ensure that 7G-6495 Covers (7) are properly installed on the bottom guards.

NOTE: If the machine is equipped with 1Q-3647 Guard Group, install 4 x 20 x 60 mm (.16 x .79 x 2.36 inch) strips to the gap between the covers and bottom guards in order to prevent the guards falling out. See Illustration 5.

3. Seal the bottom guards using labyrinth seals shown in the following procedure.
