Vibration Damper & Pulley

Usage:

Remove & Install Vibration Damper & Pulley

Start By:

a. remove radiator

1. Remove the fan belts from the fan drive. See the topic "Remove Fan Drive".

2. Remove one of the vibration damper and pulley bolts (3). Install a 5/8 in-18 × 152 mm (6 in) long guide bolt to hold the vibration damper and pulley in position when the bolts are removed. Remove five bolts (3) that hold vibration damper and pulley to the crankshaft.

3. Remove pulley (2).

4. Attach a hoist to vibration damper (4). Remove vibration damper (4). The weight of vibration damper (4) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

5. Remove adapter (5).


NOTICE

Dash marks (6) on the back of the damper assembly must be in alignment with each other. If dash marks (6) are not in alignment, replace it with a new damper assembly.


NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the vibration damper and pulley.

5. Attach a hoist to the vibration damper. Use a 5/8 in-18 × 152 mm (6 in) long guide bolt, and put the adapter (5) and the vibration damper in position on the crankshaft.

6. Install pulley (2).

7. Put clean engine oil on the threads of the bolts, and install five bolts (3) that hold the vibration damper and pulley to the crankshaft. Remove guide bolt (1) and install the remaining bolt (3).

8. Install the fan belts. See the topic "Install Fan Drive".
