Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the air intake hose. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect hose (1) .

- Remove bolts (2) and remove regulator housing (3) .
- Remove the water temperature regulator.
Installation Procedure
Note: Check the condition of the gasket. Replace the gasket, if necessary.
- Install the water temperature regulator.
- Position the water temperature regulator and regulator housing (3) .

- Install bolts (2) .
- Connect hose (1) and tighten the hose clamp.
- Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
End By: Install the air intake hose. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
