Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4029, "Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove".
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with the bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 17 L (4.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
- Remove the bolt and remove hose clamp (1). Remove the bolts and remove panel assembly (2).

- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect upper radiator hose (3) .
- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect lower radiator hose (4).

- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect air inlet hose (5). Move the hose aside.

- Remove bolts (6) that secure the radiator to the support assembly.

- Remove the fan guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Guard - Remove and Install".
- Remove the radiator. The weight of the radiator is approximately 18 kg (40 lb).
