Installation Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Check the condition of the radiator prior to the installation. Remove any dirt or debris that may restrict the flow of air through the core. If any of the cooling fins are bent, the fins should be straightened.
- Carefully position the radiator. The weight of the radiator is approximately 18 kg (40 lb).
- Install bolts (6) that secure the radiator to the support assembly.

- Install the fan guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Guard - Remove and Install ".
- Connect air inlet hose (5) and tighten the hose clamp.

- Connect lower radiator hose (4) and tighten the hose clamp.

- Connect upper radiator hose (3) and tighten the hose clamp.

- Position panel assembly (2) and install the bolts.
- Position hose clamp (1) and install the bolt.
- Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
End By: Install the hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR4029, "Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Install".
