    (B) Jaw circuit (closing) and (O) Jaw circuit (opening)

  1. Install tooling (A) on test fitting (1) .

  1. Start the host machine. Run the host machine at high idle until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature.

  1. Open the jaws of the work tool. Observe the gauge while an operator closes the jaws of the work tool. The operator must continue to hold the controls for approximately two seconds after the jaws close in order to stall the cylinder.

  1. When the pressure on fitting (1) reaches 18000 ± 1000 kPa (2610 ± 150 psi), the pressure should drop for a fraction of a second. After the drop in pressure, the pressure should rise to maximum pressure. If the change in pressure occurred at the correct pressure setting, the valve does not require adjustment. If the pressure change does not happen at 18000 ± 1000 kPa (2610 ± 150 psi), the speed control valve must be adjusted. Proceed to the next step.

  1. Turn off the machine in order to adjust the valve.

The speed control valve is shown off the machine for photographic clarity.

  1. Loosen retaining nut (2) .

  1. Turn setscrew (3) clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Turn the setscrew counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure. Adjust the pressure in small increments.

  1. When the desired adjustment has been made, tighten retaining nut (2) .

  1. Repeat Step 2 through 4.

  1. If the pressure change occurs at the correct pressure, turn off the machine and remove the test equipment.
