Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Install - 3003 Engine
Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Lubricate pushrods (5) with clean engine oil. Install pushrods (5) in the cylinder head.
Note: Ensure that the pushrods are installed correctly in the socket of the valve lifters.

- Install rocker shaft assembly (2) in cylinder head (4) .

- Install nuts (1) finger tight on the studs for the rocker shaft.
Note: Lubricate nuts (1) with clean engine oil before installation.
- The nut tightening sequence moves from the center of the rocker shaft outward. Tighten nuts (1) evenly to a torque of 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
Note: Ensure that the ends of adjusting screws (3) on each rocker arm are properly seated in the ends of the pushrods.
- Adjust the valve lash. Refer to the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting Module, "Engine Valve Lash - Inspect/Adjust" topic for the correct procedure to adjust the valve lash.
End By: Install the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".
