Auxiliary Drive

Usage:

Remove Auxiliary Drive

1. Remove auxiliary drive guard (1) from engine.

2. Loosen bolt and nut and remove drive belts from pulleys.

3. Disconnect oil line (2) from auxiliary drive (3).

4. Remove the three bolts (4) and hold auxiliary drive to engine.

5. Remove auxiliary drive (3) from engine.

6. If gear (5) is to be removed, remove the radiator and guard. See REMOVE WATER PUMP IN ENGINE SECTION DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY.

7. Remove the nut (6), washer and gear (5) from the water pump.

Install Auxiliary Drive

1. If drive gear (1) is to be installed on water pump, heat the gear to a temperature of 400°F (204°C). Install the gear (1) and key on the shaft.

2. Install the washer and nut (2). See INSTALL WATER PUMP IN ENGINE SECTION DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY. Install radiator and guard.

3. Put the auxiliary drive (3) on engine in alignment with drive gear (1). Install the bolts that hold drive on engine.

4. Connect the oil line to drive housing.

5. Install belts on pulleys.

6. Make adjustment of belt deflection (movement) to 7/8" (22 mm) under 25 lb. (11.5 kg) force, half way between pulleys.

7. Install the guard for the auxiliary drive.

Disassemble Auxiliary Drive

start by:

a) remove auxiliary drive

1. Remove nut (1) and lock from shaft. Install nut (1) again until it is even with end of shaft.

2. Use tool (A) to remove pulley (2) from shaft.

3. Remove key from shaft and slide shaft (4) out of yoke (3).

4. Use tool (B) to remove seal from yoke (3).

5. Use tooling (C) to remove bushings from yoke.

Assemble Auxiliary Drive

1. Use tooling (A) to install bushings into yoke.

2. Use tooling (B) to install seal in yoke. Install seal to lip of seal is toward the inside.

3. Install shaft (2) in the yoke (1).

4. Install the key (3) on shaft (2).

5. Install pulley (4) on the shaft.

6. Install lock (5) and nut (6).
