Drive For The Camshaft

Usage:

(1) Gear for the camshaft.

"V" marks on the gears for the camshafts must be in alignment when No. 1 piston is at top center.

(2) Top center timing mark will be in alignment with the "TIME" mark on the camshaft housing.

(3) Idler gear for the camshaft*

Bore in the bearing ... 1.3760 ± .0005 in.(34.950 ± 0.013 mm)

Diameter of the shaft ... 1.3740 ± .0005 in.(34.900 ± 0.013 mm)

(4) Cluster gear*

Bore in bearing ... 1.5015 ± .0015 in.(38.138 ± 0.038 mm)

Diameter of the shaft ... 1.4975 ± .0015 in.(38.037 ± 0.058 mm)

End clearance ... .005 to .015 in.(0.13 to 0.38 mm)

(5) Idler gears*

Bore in the bearings ... 2.6260 ± .0019 in.(66.548 ± 0.048 mm)

Diameter of the retainer bearing surface ... 2.6220 ± .0005 in.(66.599 ± 0.013 mm)

End clearance ... .005 to .015 in.(0.13 to 0.38 mm)

(6) "V" mark on cluster gear to be in alignment with the "V" mark on the gear on the crankshaft.


*Alignment of the grooves on the face of the gears and the grooves in the bearings must be within ± 4°
