Description of Change: A new bearing group is now used for AS4252C screeds. The new bearing and pin improve fit of the height control between the extender and the main frames.

Adaptable To: The 390-7798 Ball Joint replaces the 366-6668 Ball Joint and the 398-9707 Clevis Pin replaces the 173-3651 Clevis Pin. Refer to Table 1.

Rework the extender height control linkage as follows:

1. Secure the screed and support the extender screed plates.

2. Remove or block the end gates and walkway.

3. Measure and record the length of ball joints (2) between the pin center and threaded barrel.

4. Remove eight pins (1) from the extender linkage. There are four pins per extender frame. See Illustration 1 for reference showing the outer two pins on the right extender frame.

5. Lower the extender screed plates and remove eight bearing groups (2) from the height control linkage as shown in Illustration 1. There are four bearing groups per extender frame.

6. Install the new bearing groups and pins in reverse order.

7. Set the dimension of the new ball joints (2) as previously recorded for each position.

8. Reset the angle of attack and height setting. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Screed - Check/Adjust, Screed Extender Height" for reference checking and setting angle of attack.

The new bearing and pin are adaptable to the following machines:

• (S/N: JWK1-199)

• (S/N: A5D1-268)

• (S/N: GNN1-289)

The new bearing and pin are effective in production with the following machines:

• (S/N: JWK200-UP)

• (S/N: A5D269-UP)

• (S/N: GNN290-UP)
