New Support Group Blade Now Used on AS4252C Screeds {6656}

Usage:

AP-555E A5D
Asphalt Paver:
AP500E (S/N: JWK1-UP)
AP555E (S/N: A5D1-UP)
AP655D (S/N: GNN1-UP)

Description of Change: A new support group blade (tamper support bracket) is used for AS4252C Screeds. The new support group blade improves the bolted joint for the tamper support and improves the tamper height setting adjustment.

Adaptable To: The 391-7035 Support replaces the 366-5544 Support. Inspect and rework the tamper support bracket as follows:

    (2) Support blades

    (3) Wear bar

  1. Inspect the tamper setting to the screed plate to determine if the tamper setting has changed. The slotted bolted joint on the support blade may have slipped upwards changing the tamper setting.

  1. Remove deflector plates (1) from the main screed and extender frames.

  1. Remove and replace the eight support blades (2) from the tamper bars. There are two support blades per tamper bar. Refer to Illustration 1 for reference.

  1. Readjust the tamper bar to wear bar (3) and reset the tamper bar height. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, KEBU7047, "Screed - Check/Adjust, Tamper Bar Height" to reference steps to check and adjust the tamper height.

  1. Reinstall the deflectors. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, KENR8856, "Deflector - Check and Adjust" for instructions to set the gap to the tamper bar.
The new support group blade (tamper support bracket) is adaptable to the following machines:

  • (S/N: JWK1-199)

  • (S/N: A5D1-268)

  • (S/N: GNN1-289)

The new support group blade (tamper support bracket) is effective in production with the following machines:

  • (S/N: JWK200-UP)

  • (S/N: A5D269-UP)

  • (S/N: GNN290-UP)
