Magneto Drive

Usage:

Remove & Install Magneto Drive

Start By:

a. remove magneto

1. Remove tube assembly (1).

2. Remove six bolts (2), four bolts (4) and remove magneto drive (3).

3. Remove bolts (5). Coupling (6) and gear (8) from housing (9).

4. Remove bushings (9) from both sides of housing (7). If necessary, remove dowels (10) from housing (7).

5. Remove bolt (11) and gear (12) from the end of the camshaft and the camshaft drive gear.

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the magneto drive.

6. Install gear (12) and bolt (11) on the camshaft drive gear and camshaft. Tighten bolt (11) as follows:

a. Tighten bolt (11) to a torque of 360 ± 40 N·m (270 ± 30 lb ft).

b. Hit gear (12) with a soft hammer to seat the camshaft drive gear on the camshaft.

c. Re-tighten bolt (11) to a torque of 360 ± 40 N·m (270 ± 30 lb ft).

d. Repeat Steps 8b and 8c until the torque does not change.

7. Make sure dowels (10) are installed in housing (7) so they extend 6.0 ± 0.5 mm (.24 ± .02 in) above the surface of the housing.

8. Install bushings (9) in both sides of housing (7).

9. Install gear (8) and coupling (6) in housing (7). Install bolt (5).

10. Install the gasket and magneto drive (3) on the flywheel housing. Make sure the teeth of the gear on the magneto drive are engaged correctly with the teeth of the gear on the camshaft drive gear. Install bolts (4) and bolts (2) to hold magneto drive (3) on the flywheel housing.

11. Install tube assembly (1).
