The new bearings have improved contact surfaces on the rollers. The improved contact surfaces will reduce the adverse effects of the poor operating conditions to provide longer service life in the field.

The new 526-7064 Cone Bearing (1) is available as an optional service replacement for the 216-3507 Bearing Cone. The new cone bearing is not available for use on a new machine at this time. The new 526-7064 Cone Bearing is adaptable to the above listed machines.

Note: The 170-0497 Special Tapered Cup has not changed. Only the cone bearing has a new optional service replacement part available.

For the 797, 797B, 797F, and 797F XQ off-highway trucks, monitor the magnetic wheel plugs every 250 hours. For the proper procedure, refer to Magnetic Plug (Wheels) - Check for your machine in the above listed references.

For the 797, 797B, 797F, and 797F XQ off-highway trucks, perform the Differential and Final Drive Oil Sample - Obtain, and the Front Wheel Oil Sample - Obtain every 500 hours. For the proper procedure, refer to Differential and Final Drive Oil Sample - Obtain, and Front Wheel Oil Sample - Obtain for your machines in the above listed references.

For the 794 AC, the 795F AC, and the 795F AC XQ off-highway trucks, monitor the magnetic wheel plugs every 500 hours. For the proper procedure, refer to Magnetic Plug (Wheels) - Check for your machine in the above listed references.

For the 794 AC, the 795F AC, and the 795F AC XQ off-highway trucks, perform the Final Drive Oil Sample - Obtain, and the Front Wheel Oil Sample - Obtain every 500 hours. For the proper procedure, refer to Final Drive Oil Sample - Obtain, and Front Wheel Oil Sample - Obtain for your machines in the above listed references.

Use Caterpillar Final Drive and Axle Oil (FDAO) or equivalent. FDAO has an additive package with superior scuffing resistance to TO4 oil.

First Choice - Caterpillar FDAO or FDAO-SYN of the recommended viscosity grade.

Second Choice - Commercial oil of the recommended viscosity grade that meets the Caterpillar FD-1 specifications.
