Housing assembly (A) may crack on the front suspension groups of the machines listed above. Housing assembly (A) failure results in Nitrogen/hydraulic leakage seen primarily as a slight oil leak that originates on the portion of housing assembly (A) just above the mounting flange as shown in Illustration 1.
Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem and is recommending the following interim corrective action.
If cracks occur on housing assembly (A), replace with the same part.
Note: Do not attempt to repair cracks by welding.
