Usage:
Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
NOTE: The aftercooler has been removed for photographic purposes only.
1. Disconnect two fuel lines (1) from fuel transfer pump (2). Cap and plug all openings immediately.
2. Remove four bolts (3) and remove fuel transfer pump (2).
NOTE: Upon installation, tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft).
NOTE: Use a 2P-5489 Crows Foot Wrench to remove the bottom left bolt.
3. Remove O-ring seal (4) from fuel transfer pump (2).
NOTE: Check all O-ring seals for wear or damage and replace with new parts if necessary.
NOTE: For installation of the fuel transfer pump, reverse the removal procedure.
