All of the relays on the machine are identical. The pull in voltage is 7 DCV at 25 °C (77 °F). The resistance of the relay is approximately 80 ohms. The functions of each relay are described in the following sections.

Relay (Neutral Start Number 1)

The neutral start relay (number 1) is energized by the ECM. The ECM sends voltage to the relay from contact 18 (wire220-YL). The relay is energized when the propel lever is in the neutralposition, or any time the brake switch is depressed. When the relay is energized, wire 307-OR is connected to wire 306-GN. Wire 307-OR comes from the key start switch. Wire 306-GN is connected to the start relay. When the relay is energized and the key start switch is turned, power flows to the start relay.

Relay (Neutral Start Number 2)

The neutral start relay (number 2) is energized by the ECM. The ECM sends voltage to the relay from contact 18 (wire220-YL). The relay is energized when the brake pedal is depressed. When the relay is energized, wire 307-OR is connected to wire C720-BU. This wire is connected to the brake release latch relay.

Relay (Brake Release Latch)

The relay (brake release latch) is energized by wire 419-YL when the brake pedal is pressed. If the propel lever is in the neutral position, releasing the brake pedal will de-energize the relay. When the propel lever is moved out of neutral, the neutral start relays are de-energized. When neutral start relay (number 2) is de-energized, power from 155-PK is connected through the relay to wire C720-BU. Wire C720-BU is spliced into wire 419-YL and maintains power to the relay (brake release latch) and to the relay (brake release). When the relay (brake release) is energized, power is not allowed to flow to the brake release solenoid and the brakes remain locked ON. If the propel lever is moved back into the neutral position, the neutral start relay (number 2) is energized. Therefore, the power to the relay (brake release latching) is turned OFF. The brake solenoid can be energized in order to release the brakes.

Relay (Backup Alarm)

The relay (backup alarm) is energized by the ECM via contact 17 (wire C936-GY) when the propel duty cycle is less than 50%. When the relay is energized, power from the fuse (backup alarm) is connected to the backup alarm (wire 321-BR).

Relay (Waterspray Number 1)

The relay (waterspray number 1) is controlled by the ECM. A button on the joystick sends a signal to the ECM in order to turn ON the water spray. The ECM sends power to the waterspray AUTO/MANUAL switch via wire B438-OR. When this switch is in the MANUAL position, the power from the ECM is connected to the relay through the switch. The wire from the switch to the relay is C937-WH. When the relay is energized, power from the fuse (waterspray) is connected to the water pump on the front of the machine.

When the waterspray AUTO/MANUAL switch is in the AUTO position, the power for the waterpump is controlled by the spray timer. The water spray control on the instrument panel changes the time period that the water spray is ON. When the timer connects power to the relay on wire C937-WH.

Relay (Waterspray Number 2)

The relay (waterspray number 2) is energized by the ECM via contact 17 (wire C936-GY). This relay works in conjunction with the water pump select switch. The center position of the water pump select switch is for the automatic mode. In the automatic mode, the front pump is activated when the machine is traveling forward. The rear pump is activated when the machine is traveling rearward. When the relay is energized and the machine is in reverse, power from the water pump select switch is connected to the rear water pump.

When the relay is not energized, power from the water pump switch is connected to the water pump on the front of the machine.

Relay (Horn)

When the horn button on the joystick is pressed, the horn relay is energized via wire 320-OR. The relay connects power from the fuse (backup alarm) to the horn.
