In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 32% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary. Replace the universal joint per KENR8397. Install the tie rod assembly and plates per Special Instructions SEHS0006 "Procedure to Install a Rear Axle Tie Rod Stiffener to the 793F Off-Highway Truck". The tie rod assembly will connect the rear axle and transmission. This will create a stiffer drivetrain that will be less susceptible to vibration issue, which will extend u-joint service life. Perform a visual inspection for cracks on the welded joint near the transmission case flange. A crack can possibly form in the weld between the gussets on the right and left side of the transmission case. Please see diagrams below. Clean the area and inspect for visible cracks or signs of oil leakage. If a crack is found, please have the Dealer Technical Communicator create a DSN (Dealer Solution Network) Product Health Service Request with this publication mentioned in the description, and attach quality photos prior to submitting to Caterpillar for repair assistance. |
