* 580 Harvesters (7CN: 169-170, 172-176, 180, 183)

Machine Preparation:

1. Fully lower the machine. Turn the secondary disconnect switch to the OFF position.

2. Tilt up the cab. Remove the guards from the rear of the swing plate.

3. Turn on the vacuum pump when removing oil lines or hydraulic components in order to prevent excess loss of hydraulic oil.

NOTE: Be sure all areas are properly cleaned before disconnecting/removing components.

Update Procedure:

Front View of the Implement Control Valve

1. Remove the two connectors to the solenoids for the swing function.

2. Remove the two solenoids.

Swing Solenoid with Orifice Removed

3. Remove the orifice from each solenoid with an allen wrench.

4. Install a 1786412 Orifice into each solenoid with a small amount of 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the threads of the orifice. Tighten the orifice to 3 N·m (27 lb-in).

5. Reinstall the two solenoids. Torque the mounting bolts to 15 N·m (134 lb-in). Reinstall the connectors to the solenoids.

Rear View of the Implement Control Valve

6. Remove the end cap for the swing section from the rear of the implement control valve. (You do not need to remove the implement control valve from the machine to do this.)

Swing Spool

7. Remove the swing spool assembly.

8. Carefully remove the spring assembly from the end of the spool. Attach the spring assembly to the new 1788893 Swing Spool. Torque the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).

9. Install the assembly in the place of the removed spool assembly. Reinstall the end cap on the valve. Torque the end cap bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).

Inside Corner View of the Implement Control Valve (Copy Spool)

10. Remove the copy spool assembly from inside corner of the valve with an allen wrench.

1760297 Valve Group

11. Install a 1760297 Valve Group in the place of the copy spool assembly as shown. Tighten the valve to 30 N·m (265 lb-in).

Line Relief Valves for Harvesters with the 180 Kn*M Boom:

* 580 Harvesters (7CN: 169-170, 172-187, 193, 196)

View of the top of the Pendulum Arm Control Valve Plug from the Pendulum Arm Control Valve

1. Remove the plug from the top section of the pendulum arm control valve. Do not remove the orifice that is screwed into the port under the plug.

1881053 Valve Group

2. Install the 1881053 Valve Group where the plug was removed.

View of Pressure Reducing Valve for Maximum Signal Pressure

3. Remove the following items from the machine:

* The hose that connects from the tee on the shuttle valve to the pressure-reducing valve.
* The hose that connect from the pressure reducing valve to the manifold on the tank.
* The pressure reducing valve for maximum signal pressure.

4. Disconnect the hose from the top of the tee that is on top of the shuttle valve.

5. Remove the tee from the top of the shuttle valve.

6. Reconnect the hose that was connected to the top of the tee to the top of the shuttle valve.

7. Place a 6V9829 Cap on the tee near the tank manifold where the hose was removed.

End View of the Implement Control Valve

8. Disconnect the hose assembly that connects to the 'LS' port on the end of the implement control valve. (Other end of the hose connects to the shuttle valve near the implement pump.)

9. Remove the cap from the pressure tap on the 'PL' port. Put the cap on the 'LS' port where the hose was removed.

Load Sensing Connection from Harvester Head

10. Disconnect the load sensing line from the harvester head that connects to the 'LSP' port on the implement control valve.

11. Remove the elbow and adapters from the 'LSP' port.

Testing and Adjusting:

NOTE: Do not perform the following testing and adjusting procedure until all of the rework procedures have been performed for your machine.

Purge Air from Load Sensing System

NOTE: Refer to your service manual for more information on performing these procedures.

1. Adjust the pressure for the TILT DOWN function to 3500 kPa (500 psi).

2. Locate the load sensing line that connects to the implement pump.

3. Press and hold down the 'Tilt Down' button while someone slowly loosens the load sensing line until only oil flows from the line.

4. Retighten the load sensing line. Readjust the TILT DOWN function to previous pressure setting according to your service manual.

Set Pressures for the Harvester Load Sensing System

1. Ensure that the hydraulic system is at normal operating temperature.

2. Fully lower the machine, lower the harvester head to the ground, and stop the engine.

3. Install a 0 to 40000 kPa (0 to 6000 psi) pressure gauge on the pressure tap from the 'PX' port of the implement control valve.

4. Turn the signal limiter valve for the extendable stick RETRACT function, on the implement control valve, all the way clockwise to set it to the maximum pressure setting.

5. Start the engine and increase the engine speed to 1500 rpm. Turn the boom switch on.

View of the Implement Pump

6. Hold the extendable stick button in the RETRACT position while you adjust the high-pressure cutoff setting on the implement pump to 26000 kPa (3775 psi). Release the button when you are finished.

7. Hold one of the switches to raise a pendulum arm while you adjust the new 188-1053 Valve Group in the pendulum arm control valve to 25500 kPa (3700 psi). Release the switch when you are finished.

8. Set the margin pressure setting of the pump to 3500 kPa (500 psi). Use the procedure outlined in the testing and adjusting service manual module, RENR3014 Wheel Harvester Hydraulic System; 'Implement Pump Margin Pressure - Test & Adjust.'

9. Hold the extendable stick button in the RETRACT position while you readjust the high-pressure cutoff setting on the implement pump to 25000 kPa (3625 psi). Release the button when you are finished.

10. Reset the signal limiter valve for the extendable 'stick retract' function to 23000 kPa (3350 psi). Use the procedure outlined in the testing and adjusting service manual module, RENR3014 Wheel Harvester Hydraulic System; 'Extendable Stick Cylinder Pressure - Test & Adjust.'
