Usage:
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS40181" as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If adminstered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If adminstered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from Parts Stock as soon as possible.

The travel motor needs to be reworked to prevent moisture from entering the brake compartment on certain 550, 570 and 580 Wheel Harvesters. Moisture can enter the brake compartment on the travel motor through the cover. The moisture causes rust in the brake housing and causes the brake piston seal to fail. This rework program replaces the cover with a cover that contains a seal.

Rework Procedure
PROCEDURE TO INSPECT AND REWORK TRAVEL MOTORS
NOTE: The 550 and 570 Harvester require four sets of parts. The 580 Harvester requires two sets of parts.
Machine Preparation:
1. Move the machine to a smooth, level surface.
2. Raise the machine so that the travel motors can be accessed when you remove the pendulum arm covers.
3. Place four jack stands under the machine in order to support the machine. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for the 550, 570, and 580 Wheel Harvester Power Train System, "Wheel-Remove", for the correct placement of the jack stands.
4. Stop the engine. Turn the secondary disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspection/Rework Procedure:
Exploded View of Travel Motor
1. Remove the four screws and the cover for the pendulum arm in order to access the travel motor.
2. Remove plug (7) from the cover on the travel motor.
3. Place a piece of flat metal across the surface of the cover. Screw a M16 bolt through the flat piece of metal and into the travel motor. The bolt will screw into brake piston (7).
NOTE: The bolt must be just long enough to reach the piston. If it is too long, damage to the wheel motor may result.
4. Tighten the M16 bolt so that when you remove cover (5), piston (3), spacers and brake springs (4) come with the cover as one assembly.
5. Carefully remove the sixteen cover bolts (6) and the assembly from the travel motor.
6. Lay the assembly flat down on the floor. Remove the M16 bolt and flat metal piece that is holding the assembly together.
7. Inspect brake piston (3) for corrosion. Thoroughly remove all corrosion and clean the brake piston.
8. Inspect the inside diameter of brake housing (1) for corrosion. Thoroughly remove all corrosion and clean the inside of the brake housing.
NOTE: If the brake housing or piston is pitted beyond repair, then replace the items as required.
9. Replace brake piston seal (2) with a new 8H8257 Seal.
10. Replace cover (5) with an 1889985 Cover and a 4D4508 Seal (mounted on the outside groove for the cover).
11. Apply a thin film of grease to the inside wall of the brake housing where the brake piston will contact. Apply a thin film of grease to the new brake piston seal and the new cover seal.
12. Reinstall the M16 bolt used in step 3 through the new cover and into the brake piston.
13. Carefully install the assembly into the travel motor with sixteen bolts (6). Take care to not damage the new cover seal or the brake piston seal when installing the assembly.
14. Evenly torque the mounting bolts to 120 N.m (90 lb-ft).
15. Apply a small amount of 1U8846 Flexible Gasket Maker to the threads plug (7). Install the plug into the cover.
16. Reinstall the four pendulum arm cover bolts.
17. Repeat Steps 1 through 16 for the other travel.
