- (1-Rework Procedure)
Rework Procedure
1. Temporarily relocate instrument panel away from glass inside of cab. Remove 2 screws from each side of panel and 2 from the lower center (hard to see), pull panel back from front window. Note: This does not require any disconnecting of air lines or wiring.
2. Remove two plastic covers over plate to be reinforced, one on each side of instrument panel, held with 2 screws each.
3. Remove plastic cover from right hand post, held with 3 screws.
4. Cut tie straps from wiring harness on right side of instrument panel and right hand front post. This will allow wiring to be temporarily relocated for welding in this area.
5. Remove existing tie strap link from front channel which runs under front top front window and discard (will replace with different type). This will provide a flat surface for reinforcement plate to be welded to.
6. Protect glass and seals prior to welding.
7. Weld the existing "L" shaped pieces near the center of front panel just under the front channel to the plate below. See Illustration 2.
8. Fabricate new plate as shown in Illustration 3 and weld into position as shown in Illustration 4.
9. Weld the 5D9629 Rod to the new plate using the dimensions in Ilustration 5.
10. Relocate wiring harness back in place and secure with tie straps.
11. Reinstall three covers and instrument panel.
