Rework Procedure
Inspection Only
Inspect the machine to determine if it needs to have a new expansion valve installed.
1. Remove the air conditioner/heater control knobs.
2. Remove the cover.
3. If the expansion valve has a blue sticker with "R134A" on it, the valve does not need to be replaced. Install the cover and control knobs.
4. If the expansion valve does not have a blue sticker with "R134A" on it, the valve needs to be replaced with a new 3E9343 Valve Assembly.
Replacement Of Expansion Valve
If inspection reveals the machine needs to have a new 3E9343Valve Assembly installed:
1. Evacuate the air conditioning system according to the procedures in Service Manual form number SENR5664.
NOTE: Observe all regulations concerning recovery and recycling of refrigerant.
2. Disconnect the existing 2G0401 Valve Assembly. As soon as the expansion valve is disconnected, plug the mating parts quickly to avoid entry of air and moisture. This will eliminate the need to replace the dryer.
3. Install the new 3E9343 Valve Assembly.
4. Recharge the air conditioning system using the refrigerant recovered during Step 1. Complete the recharging process using additional refrigerant, if necessary.
