Usage:
NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8030" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: Although this Program can be administered as described above, it is recommended that it be implemented before failure on any of the Affected Product that have had a head gasket failure.

The existing orifice plate in the upper radiator tube assembly may not allow enough coolant flow on certain D40D and D400D Articulated Trucks. A new tube assembly with a larger orifice can be installed to improve cooling.

Group 1
Drain the coolant so that it is below the level of the water pump outlet. Remove the existing 5U4388 Restrictor (Orifice), two 7U4280 Gaskets, and 2U2145 Hose Assembly. Refer to the Illustration.
Install the new 1107466 Tube Assembly (includes orifice), two 4N6749 Hoses, two 6U6481 Clips, and the 7U4280 Gasket. Fill the radiator with coolant.
Group 2
Drain the coolant so that it is below the level of the water pump outlet. Remove the existing 5U4388 Restrictor (Orifice) and 7U9814 Tube. Refer to the Illustration for the location of the 5U4388 Orifice.
Install the new 1107466 Tube Assembly (includes orifice) and 7U4280 Gasket. Fill the radiator with coolant.
