NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3633" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3633" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the August 20, 1993 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Parts Needed and Rework Procedure.

The 8T8640 Pressure Sensor needs to be relocated on certain D300D Articulated Trucks. The hydraulic tank will need to be inspected while it is off the truck. It is possible that a weld may have been omitted around the mounting plate.

Service Claim Allowances
NOTE: This is a 10-hour job to relocate the pressure sensor and inspect for missing welds. If a weld is missing, an additional 1-hour will be allowed for cleaning and welding.
NOTE: U.S. and Canadian Dealers Only - This Program does not qualify for a Type 2 SIMS Report.

Rework Procedure
1. Tilt the cab into the service position.
2. Drain the hydraulic oil and remove the tank from the truck.
Welding, cutting, or heating the hydraulic tank can result in personal injury or death. Read and understand the July 2, 1990 Service Magazine article "Welding On Fuel And Hydraulic Tanks"
3. Weld bracket (3) to the bottom of the hydraulic tank in the position shown. Install Clips (4) on Bracket (3) with hardware items (5), (6), and (7). See Illustration 1.
4. Inspect for any missing welds. See Illustration 2. Repair or add welds as required if any welds are missing.
5. Thoroughly flush the tank and install it on the truck.
6. Remove the 8T8640 Pressure Sensors from the pump delivery pipes.
7. Install the 8T8640 Pressure Sensors on Bracket (3) using Adapter (15) and Nuts (14). Connect the electrical harness and install in Clips (4).
8. Complete the installation of the hoses and fittings as shown in the illustration.
