Rework Procedure
Do not torch or weld on painted areas. The effect of gasses from burned paint is a danger to the person doing the cutting or welding.
NOTE: Before using a torch or welding on the ROPS, refer to Special Instruction, SEHS8764, Inspection, Maintenance and Repair of Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS) and Attachment Installation Guidelines for the correct procedures.
1 Remove both the front fiberglass hood and metal hood.
2 Remove (cut) the mounting brackets for the metal hood from both sides of the frame and grind smooth.
3 Remove (cut) the bracket from the right side of the hood. (Bracket closest to the right hand platform). Grind the area smooth.
4 Drill a 25.4 mm (1") diameter hole between the two existing holes on the left hood bracket. See Illustration 1.
5 Weld the new 7I5800 Bracket Assembly to the hood assembly. (Use a 3 mm fillet weld as shown in Illustration 4. Mount the bracket so that the hole in the bracket is 26 mm (1.02 ") from the rear edge of the hood and 2350 mm (92.5")away from the hole drilled in Step 4. See Illustrations 2, 3, and 4.
6 Install the rubber mounts and the remaining brackets on the hood. Put the hood in position on the truck and install two bolts between the hood and front cowl assembly. Try to center the bolts in the mounts and in the hood to provide for easier removal and installation. See Illustrations 4, 5, and 6.
7 Tack weld the two bracket assemblies to the frame and ROPS Tube. Remove the hood.
8 Finish weld the brackets to the frame and ROPS Tube. Use 5 mm fillet welds in the locations shown in Illustrations 4 and 5.
