Aftercooler - Remove and Install - High-Pressure

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove Electronic Control Module.

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

  2. Remove bolts (1) and remove harness assembly (2) from bracket (5). Remove bolts (4) and remove harness assembly (3) from bracket (5). Remove bolts (6) and remove plate (7). Remove clamp (8).

  3. Remove bolt (9). Remove bolt (10) and bracket (5).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (11) and harness assembly (12) and position out of the way.

  5. Disconnect cable assembly (13) , cable assembly (14), and cable assembly (15), and position out of the way. Remove temperature sensor (16) and pressure sensor (17). Remove P-clip (18).

  6. Loosen clamp (19) and remove hose (20).

  7. Remove bolt (21) and washers (22).

  8. Remove clamps (23) and clamps (25). Remove hose (24) and hose (26).

  9. Remove bolts (27) and bolts (28). Remove plugs (29).

  10. Remove bolts (30).

  11. Support aftercooler (31). Remove bolts (32) and bolts (33).

  12. Remove aftercooler (31) and inlet air heater (34).

  13. Remove bushings (35).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install aftercooler (31) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (33) to a torque of 60 ± 6 N·m (440 ± 4 lb ft).

    2. Tighten bolts (32) to a torque of 60 ± 6 N·m (440 ± 4 lb ft).

    3. Tighten bolts (30) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    4. Tighten plugs (29) to a torque of 75 ± 8 N·m (55 ± 6 lb ft).

    5. Tighten bolts (28) to a torque of 60 ± 6 N·m (440 ± 4 lb ft).

    6. Tighten bolts (27) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft).

    7. Tighten clamps (25) to a torque of 3.25 ± 0.25 N·m (29 ± 2.9 lb in).

    8. Tighten clamps (23) to a torque of 3.25 ± 0.25 N·m (29 ± 29 lb in).

    9. Tighten bolt (21) to a torque of 35 ± 4 N·m (26 ± 3 lb ft).

    10. Tighten clamp (19) to a torque of 3.25 ± 0.25 N·m (29 ± 2.9 lb in).

    11. Tighten P-clip (18) to a torque of 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in).

    12. Tighten pressure sensor (17) to a torque of 15 ± 1 N·m (133 ± 9 lb in).

    13. Tighten temperature sensor (16) to a torque of 35 ± 4 N·m (26 ± 3 lb ft).

    14. Tighten cable assembly (15) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).

    15. Tighten cable assembly (14) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).

    16. Tighten cable assembly (13) to a torque of 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in).

    17. Tighten bolt (10) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    18. Tighten bolt (9) to a torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (89 ± 9 lb in).

    19. Tighten clamp (8) to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (106 ± 9 lb in).

    20. Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (89 ± 9 lb in).
