Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove accessory drive (front).

2. Remove fuel pump (high pressure).

3. Remove water pump.

4. Remove vibration damper.

5. Remove engine oil pump.

1. Remove bolts (1).

2. Install Tooling (A) and remove remaining bolts (1).

3. Slide engine trunnion (2) outward and install a suitable lifting device to engine trunnion (2). Remove engine trunnion (2). The weight of engine trunnion (2) is approximately 52 kg (115 lb).

4. Remove elbow (5).

5. Remove bolts (3), bolts (7), cover (4), and cover (6).

6. Remove bolts (10) and bolts (11).

7. Use Tooling (B) to remove idler shaft (8), idler shaft (9), and the O-ring seals.

8. Remove bolts (14), bolts (15), pump adapter (12), adapter (13), and the O-ring seals.

9. Remove bolts (16), bolts (19), thrust washers (18), thrust washers (20), and oil screen (17).

10. Remove bolts (21), adapter (22), and the O-ring seal.

11. Remove gear assembly (23).

12. Remove bolts (24) and stud (25).

13. Remove bolts (26), bolts (29), thrust washers (28), and thrust washers (30).

14. Remove bolts (27), adapter (31), and the O-ring seals.

15. Remove gear assembly (32).

16. Disconnect hose assembly (33).

17. Remove idler gear (34) and idler gear (35).

18. Use a suitable lifting device to remove front housing (42). The weight of front housing (42) is approximately 135 kg (298 lb).

19. Remove bolts (36), bolts (37), bolts (38), bolts (39), bolts (40), bolts (41), front housing (42), and the gasket.

Installation Procedure

1. Install front housing (42) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Lightly lubricate the bores of idler gear (35), idler gear (34), adapter (31), adapter (22), adapter (12), pump adapter (12), and cover (4) with the fluid that is being sealed.
