Alignment Wrap (A) is not shown for photographic purposes. Typical Example

Note: Alignment Wrap (A) will be included with the new bellows assembly. The Tooling will be pre-installed on the bellows.

Note: The alignment wrap (A) should not be removed until Step 12. Bellows assembly (6) should never be flexed during installation.

  3. Distance (X) is 40 mm (1.6 inch). Place Mark (B) onto exhaust tube (7). a Distance (X) from the end of exhaust tube (7).

  4. Insert exhaust tube (7) into the bellows assembly (6). The exhaust tube (7) should be inserted as far as possible without using force. This action will minimize the overall length of the bellows assembly (6) and will help with installation.

The photo is a cutaway view of the clamp.

  5. Prior to installation, position clamp (5) onto the bellows assembly (6).

  6. Adjust the length of exhaust elbow (7) in the slip joint at clamp (5) in order to position the bellows assembly (6).

  7. Verify that the cup of the Ball Joint (E) does not touch the radius of the ball (D). Position clamp (5) and hand tighten clamp (5). Measure Distance (Y) and Distance (Z). The two measurements should be equal. Repeat the measurements every 90° around clamp (5). If necessary, adjust clamp (5).

  8. Repeat Step 7 for clamp (13).

Note: Do not use power tools in order to torque clamp (5), clamp (8), clamp (9), clamp (13), and clamp (15).

  9. Torque clamp (5) and clamp (13) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).

  10. Torque clamp (9) to a torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in).

  11. Torque clamp (15) to a torque of 55 ± 8 N·m (41 ± 6 lb ft).

  12. Remove alignment wrap (A) from bellows (6).
