Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the procedure for updating to the single piece oil pan on certain D8T Track-Type Tractors and Pipelayers.

- Remove the belly guards directly fore and aft of the equalizer bar, the high-speed oil change, and any other attachments connected to the oil pan. Clean out any debris that may have accumulated around the oil pan.

Illustration 11 g03840080 - Disassemble the three piece oil pan and remove the oil level sensor. Clean off excess gasket from the block surface. Remove tube assembly suction (C) and bracket (D) only.
Note: Do not disassemble the plate and tube assembly pump discharge.

- Apply blue RTV to gasket (7) as required to help hold the gasket in place.

105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft) . - Insert pipe plug (11) into drain adapter (8).

- Install new tube and oil level gauge (16).
- Paint all components after installation is complete.

Note: When oil pan sound panel is used, 10 stud bolts are needed around the pan instead of bolts.
- Note the new fill level requirements:
- Full Mark – 43L w/1 Filter Change
- Add Mark – 38L w/1 Filter Change
- Check for leaks and install bottom guards.
