NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the diesel exhaust fluid into a suitable container.

  2. Open left rear access door (1).

  3. Turn the disconnect switch to OFF position.

  4. Remove nuts (2) and bolt (3).

  5. Remove nut (4) and bolt (5).

  6. Remove bolts (6).

  7. Remove grommet (8) to reveal a wire access channel in panel (7). Reposition harness assembly (19) through the channel and remove panel (7).

    Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8231, "Removal Procedures for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Connectors" for the correct removal procedure of hose assemblies (13).

  8. Remove cable ties (11) and cable ties (17). Disconnect harness assemblies (16) and hose assemblies (12). Remove bolt (13) and bolt (15). Use Tooling (B) to clamp hose assembly (10) and hose (14) closed. Disconnect hose assembly (10) and hose assembly (14).

  9. Remove bolts (19). Repeat for other side. Remove diesel exhaust fluid module (18).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install diesel exhaust fluid pump (18) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) to the O-ring seals inside hose assemblies (8).
