Procedure to Install 484-6922 Platform Guard Kit on 966M and 972M Wheel Loaders{7150, 7253, 7277, 7513} Caterpillar

Introduction

This special Instruction details the installation of the 484-6922 Platform Guard Kit on certain 966M and 972M Wheel Loaders.

Required Parts

RH Hydraulic Service Center

Note: Use proper lifting device as necessary to support components during installation.

Note: Remove any existing hardware as needed.

1. Install the 430-8857 Sheet As (3) using 14 7X-7729 Washers (15) and 8T-4136 Bolts (16). Attach on the backside with 14 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustrations 1 and 2.

2. Install the 390-7373 Plate (2) using six 8T-4136 Bolts (16) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). Attach on the backside with six 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustration 3.

3. Install the 390-7372 Plate (1) using five 8T-4136 Bolts (16) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). Attach on the backside with five 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustration 4.

1. Install the 440-0114 Cover (10) using nine 8T-4136 Bolts (16) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). Attach on the backside with nine 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustration 5.

2. Install the 440-0113 Cover (9) using seven 8T-4136 Bolts (16) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). Attach on the backside with seven 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustration 6.

3. Install the 440-0112 Cover (8) using seven 8T-4136 Bolts (16) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). Attach on the backside with seven 344-5675 Nuts (14) and 7X-7729 Washers (15). See Illustration 7.

1. Install the 439-1719 Plate (4) underneath the left-hand platform using nine 9X-2039 Screws (17), 18 7X-7729 Washers (15), and nine 344-5675 Nuts (14). See Illustrations 8 and 9.

2. Weld the 440-3772 Plate (13), 440-3770 Sheet (12) and 440-3769 Sheet (11) with a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld. Weld on all sides of the components. See Illustration 10.

1. Install the 439-1719 Plate (4) underneath the left-hand platform using nine 9X-2039 Screws (17), 18 7X-7729 Washers (15), and nine 344-5675 Nuts (14). See Illustrations 11 and 12.

1. Weld the 439-1723 Sheet (5), 439-1724 Sheet (6) and 439-1725 Plate (7) with a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld. Weld on all sides of the components. See Illustrations 13 and 14.
