Data - Capture

Usage:

ES12F CZE
The data capture feature of the UPS 1200 is a diagnostic method that allows the service technician to retrieve the DAC states and telemetry of the UPS before and after a UPS event.

The procedure for Data Capture is done using a PC that is connected to the Graphics Master via the Customer contacts tray on top of the Controls cabinet.

Data that is captured is saved to the Log file directory on the PC. The name of the file includes the following data: date, time and a .csv file extension.

The Graphical User Interface will store the last 16 data captures before earlier captures are overwritten.

Procedure

  1. Connect a PC to the UPS.

Refer to the method that was used in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Personal Computer to UPS Connection".

  1. Open UPS View.

  1. Log on with the service user name and service password.

  1. Follow Step 4.a through Step 4.c.

    1. On the Menu, click on "Op. Params".

    1. In the "Op. Params" menu, click on "Op. Group X:".

    1. In the "Op. Group X:" menu, click on "Capture Data Config".

  1. Supply a valid value for the "Capture Trigger Config" parameter that is located under this heading.

Refer to the information in ""Capture Trigger Config"".

  1. Select "Apply".

  1. Supply a valid value for the "Capture Sample Time" parameter that is located under this heading.

Refer to the information in ""Capture Sample Time"".

  1. Select "Apply".

  1. Supply a valid value for the "Pre-Trigger Cnt" parameter that is located under this heading.

Refer to the information in ""Pre-Trigger Cnt"".

  1. Select "Apply".

When an event occurs, the data will be captured within the UPS.

  1. Follow Step 12.a through Step 12.c.

The UPS will upload the data that is captured to UPS View. Additionally, the UPS will produce a .csv file in the Log directory with the current name of the UPS that includes the date and the time.

    1. On the Menu, click on "Commands".

    1. In the "Commands" menu, click on "Group 7".

    1. In the "Group 7" menu, click on "Upload All Capture Data to View".

  1. Open the .csv file with a spreadsheet program.

This .csv file contains all the telemetry data. This .csv file includes other data that was logged previously on the UPS. This file can be opened with a program that opens spreadsheets for viewing and/or creating graphs.

Note: Complete the following steps in order to delete all data that was captured from the Graphical User Interface:

    1. On the Menu, click on "Commands".

    1. In the "Commands" menu, click on "Group X".

    1. In the "Group X" menu, click on "Delete All Capture Data From Graphical User Interface".

"Capture Trigger Config"

The "Capture Trigger Config" parameter determines the events that trigger the data that is captured.

The entry is either a hex value or a decimal value.

The hex number that is placed in the field is a bit field that represents the events that are captured.

The values of all triggers that are desired are added and the resultant value is put in this parameter.

Refer to "Event Triggers".

"Capture Sample Time"

"Range: (1-500)"

The "Capture Sample Time" determines the length of time between each of the data points. The "Capture Sample Time" calibrated in 1/10 of a millisecond.

Note: A value of 100 is equal to 10 milliseconds per sample.

"Capture Pre-Trigger Cnt"

"Range: (0-347)"

The "Capture Pre-Trigger Cnt" specifies the amount of data points to be saved before the event.

The system has a buffer that can hold 347 data points.

For example, a value of 330 will capture 330 data points before the event and 17 data points after the event.

The duration of each Data Point is determined by the "Capture Sample Time" above.
