Remove And Install Cam Bearings With 6V4077 Cam Bearing Tool Group{0621,0622}

Usage:

3500 Series Engines

The 6V4077 Cam Bearing Tool Group (Illustration 1) is used with certain components from the 8S2241 Camshaft Bearing Installation and Removal Group (Illustration 2) to remove and/or install camshaft bearings in the 3500 Series Engines. Items needed from the 8S2241 Group are 2-8S8293 Extensions and 4-8S8292 Extensions. If the 5P5247 Hydraulic Puller is used, no additional tools from the 8S2241 Group are needed. If the hydraulic puller is not used the bearings can be manually removed or installed with the 8S8291 Threaded Shaft, 8S8290 Nut, 8S8287 Thrust Bearing Assembly, and the 8H684 Ratchet Wrench.

As shown in Illustration 3, the camshaft bearing is fastened between the 6V4014 Pilot and the 6V4012 Back-Up Plate which act as guides during the press fit installation of the bearing. Proper bearing alignment procedures are given in the Service Manuals.

Illustration 4 shows the 6V4014 Pilot and the 6V4012 Back-Up Plate being used with extensions to remove camshaft bearings.

The 6V4015 Pulling Bar is fastened to the flywheel housing and is used with the 6V4013 Screw and the 5P5247 Hydraulic Puller (Illustration 5). The 8H684 Ratchet (not shown) can be used. The 6V4015 Pulling Bar can also be used on the front housing if the cam bearings are to be pulled forward (Illustration 6). When the bar is used on the front of the engine, the two 6V4005 Spacers must be used between the puller bar and the engine to give the bar enough clearance from the engine cover.
