Correct Installation Of Seal Spacer In Gear-Type Hydraulic Pumps{5073}

Usage:

All Hydraulic Implement Pumps (Gear Type) Used In Caterpillar Products

When a hydraulic implement pump is assembled, the plastic spacer ring used between the shaft seals must be installed correctly (see the illustration). The plastic spacer has a weep hole in it. If there is a restriction over the weep hole, hydraulic oil will transfer (leak) into the pump drive compartment. If the hydraulic oil is a fire resistant fluid (water glycol) and the pump drive is common to the engine oil sump, damage to an engine can result because of the mixture of water glycol and engine oil.

NOTICE

Assemble both seals with sealing lip towards the pump. Assemble the spacer ring between the shaft seals with the small outside diameter against the steel case of the inner seal. The large outside diameter of the ring should be toward the lip of the outer seal.
