Fuel Priming Pump & Base

Usage:

Remove & Install Fuel Priming Pump & Base

Fluid Spillage Containment

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


1. Turn the fuel supply line valve to the "OFF" position.

2. Disconnect fuel inlet line (1) and fuel outlet line (2). Cap and plug all openings immediately.

3. Remove two bolts and washers (3) from fuel priming pump base (4). Remove the gasket from the fuel priming pump base.

4. Remove fuel priming pump base (4) and fuel priming pump (5) as a unit.

NOTE: If necessary, separate fuel priming pump base (4) from fuel priming pump (5).

NOTE: Check the condition of the gaskets. If the gaskets are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

NOTE: Install the fuel priming pump and base in the reverse order of removal.

5. Turn the fuel supply line valve to the "ON" position.
