Oil Filter Base

Usage:

Disassemble & Assemble Of Oil Filter Base

Start By:

a. remove oil filter base

Fluid Spillage Containment

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Remove O-ring seals (1) from the oil filter base.

2. Remove bolts (2), covers (3) and the gaskets from the oil filter base.

NOTE: Plunger (4) is for the cooler bypass, and plunger (7) is for the oil filter bypass.

3. Remove springs (5), plunger (4), and plunger (7) from the base.

NOTE: The following is for assemble of the oil filter base.

4. Install plunger (7), springs (5), gaskets (6), covers (3) and bolts (2) for the oil filter bypass valve in the oil filter base.

5. Install plunger (4), spring (5), gasket (6) and cover (3) for the oil cooler bypass valve.

6. Inspect O-ring seals (1) and make any replacements if necessary. Install seals in the oil filter base.
